Technology

Due to the evolving importance and presence of technology in society, The Weiss School provides students and faculty with a variety of technology and multimedia digital tools that are used in and outside of classrooms for academic learning. The implementation of a diverse set of technology tools are designed to successfully deliver academic instruction, enhance and enrich student academic experiences, foster innovative instructional strategies, and challenge the bright minds of our gifted students. The Weiss School is committed to implementing new technologies that develop inquisitive and creative students and make The Weiss School a cutting-edge, innovative school for gifted children.

  • 1:1 iPad Program (K - 4th Grade)

    A 1:1 student to iPad program is implemented at The Weiss School for Kindergarten - 4th grade students. Each Kindergarten - 4th grade student receives an iPad with an integrated keyboard to use at school and also out of school. The use of iPads in educational classrooms are used to provide Weiss School teachers with the ability to implement interactive classroom activities and provide Weiss School students with a device to complete course content assignments and projects through multimedia technology applications.

    The use of the iPads also fosters improved student-teacher communication and provides enhanced opportunities for peer collaboration on projects and assignments. All students keep their iPad throughout the school year for use out of school during the evening, on weekends, and on school vacations.
  • 1:1 MacBook Air Program (5th - 8th Grade)

    The 1:1 student to MacBook Air program is implemented at The Weiss School for 5th - 8th grade students. All students in 5th - 8th grade receive an Apple MacBook Air laptop that provides them with a powerful and mobile technology device in which to use in class during the school day and outside of school hours. On their MacBook laptops, students have access to digital textbooks and the capacity to interactively communicate with teachers, submit assignments and projects electronically, and work collaboratively with peers. The use of the MacBook Air also encourages students to research information, assess the value of data, and communicate their ideas clearly and effectively.

    By providing each student with their own laptop computer, The Weiss School not only eliminates any issues pertaining to student access to technology, but it also ensures that Weiss School students will develop and retain 21st century technology skills needed to be successful in higher education and the workforce.
  • Classroom Technology

    All classrooms are outfitted with integrated technology that allows faculty to deliver interactive academic lessons. In Early Childhood and Primary classrooms, the youngest learners at The Weiss School have an early introduction to technology with iPads, SMART Boards, and SMART Tables. Intermediate and Middle School classrooms have either an interactive SMART Board or a LCD projector and screen with the ability to project academic content from numerous technology devices.
  • Technology & Engineering

    The Weiss School Technology and Engineering Department is a research-based learning environment that fosters intellectual and practical skills growth in the comprehensive subject areas of Technology and Engineering. Instruction emphasizes computer programming, mechatronics, and product development. All Kindergarten – 5th grade students have technology and engineering instruction twice per week using the technology tools available in The Weiss School Technology & Engineering Maker Lab.

    In 6th – 8th grade, students are able to enroll in elective courses that include Robotics/Mechatronics, Advanced Robotics, and Special Engineering Projects. Students are also introduced to various technology hardware and software applications including LabView for computer programming, Lego EV3 for robotics and engineering activities, SolidWorks for engineering design projects, Raspberry PI for engineering projects, and VEX Robotics for robotics competitions.

The Weiss School is a co-ed private school that serves gifted students in PreK-3 through 8th grade in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. A Weiss School education prepares students to think analytically and creatively, act socially responsible, live vigorously, and create imaginatively in a warm and supportive educational environment.
